Do you or a loved one struggle to hear on the phone? Did you know the average headset output on a telephone is only 80 dB SPL (sound pressure level)? This might not mean much to some, but for somebody living with mild hearing loss, this statistic is significant! It means the standard telephone does not provide them the needed amplification to make conversation intelligible. Using an amplified telephone with 25dB or more of additional gain can make all the difference in the world. It improves speech intelligibility and understanding significantly.
There are many products that will help those who are hard of hearing or deaf to be able to communicate via telephone with their loved ones. For those with a mild to severe loss of hearing, take a look at our large range of amplified telephones and ringers. An extra loud ringer combined with a flashing ring indicator ensures you won't miss important phone calls. Large buttons and volume control provide for easy use and operation. Adjustable tone and volume controls allow the listener to best accommodate their hearing loss.
For those who have a more severe hearing loss, we carry a number of Teletype (TTY) phones and telephone signalers. With a TTY, the conversation is typed rather than spoken and direct communication is possible with anyone who has a similar device. Calls placed to or from a non-TTY user can be done so through a Telecommunications Relay Service.
Telephone signalers or signal systems can alert someone who is extremely hard of hearing or deaf to the phone ringing. This can be accomplished through strobe lights or by blinking a lamp. |
